Rough Draft

After School Policy by Nathan Cho
This new term, our school started to carry out the new after school policy not because of an economy of energy and money, not because of an inadequate number of facilities and guardians, and not because of a parent’s support. The students cannot stay after without permission from teacher and parents and wander around the school. The students are being treated like a prisoner in the jail because of the new, more rigorous restrictions.
The new after school policy is caused by few incidents from few lower grades and is an attempt to protect the students from any possible danger and to prevent students from wasting time, and to supervise them for healthier and better life. So, under the policy, if anyone stays after school without permission or pass, then the teachers will take him or her. Furthermore, if you get the permission, you have to stay in the teacher’s room or library until the school ends. In other words, you cannot leave the until the school ends. While something should be done about the education and protection of students, the new policy is causing students to feel unfair, disdainful, and nonsense and wasting student’s money and time. Students should be allowed to stay afterschool without restriction.
The new after school policy is wasting student’s tuition. After SIS, KIS is the 2nd most expensive international school in Korea. SIS cost around 25.000.000$, and KIS cost around 23,500,000, which are the cost for a car. However, we are treated more worse than the school those of more below than KIS: SFS and YISS. SFS cost around 18,425,000$ and YISS cost around 16,250,000$. The new policy is causing the students and their parents to feel they wasted their money to the school where the students are severely restricted to use school facilities and resources and treated like a prisoner in the jail.
It is nonsense how the school became like this. The school principles, teachers, and some school staffs created the new after school policy. However, the reason they made is ridiculous and nonsense. Mr. Christenbury and some high school staffs said that the after school policy was created because of little incidents from a small number of people who are younger than high school. For example, one of the middle school students got hurt after school. It is quite reasonable that school made the new policy since the school is responsible for guarding the student in school. However, motivating students to go home and making students to stay at one area in school does not mean students will not get hurt. Students can get hurt any where in any time by accident. It is nonsense that the school is comparing the high school students to the younger people who are less mature and responsible. Also, it is nonsense that the school is ignoring high school students and treating lower grades with more attention. Furthermore, it is nonsense how few people affected the entire school.
Students are wasting more time than ever before. The school might have thought that this new policy will definitely save student’s time. However, the result is quiet opposite. Before the school policy was made, the school was the best place to meet and do group project. Nonetheless, now, students are wasting more time in searching for the place to do group project. In addition, one of the big problems of international school is that all the students are living in various places, far away from each other. So, it is wasting even more time going to somewhere and coming back to home. Although students use time wisely as the school expected with this new policy, still, the students are wasting more time than ever before.
Even if the new after school policy is for the education and protection of students, clearly, the level of restriction is extreme and unnecessary. This extreme level of restriction should be re-considered because it is wasting student’s tuition and time. KIS Students are not being treated as well as how they should be compare to their price paying. Also, it is nonsense and unfair that the school made this new policy based on few incidents from few lower grades who are less mature and responsible. If you value equality, freedom, and the rights of student, if you believe that you are being treated as inferior than lower grades, if you believe that many should not be punished because of the few, I urge you to contact Jin Kwon and be the member of the club “The after-school policy must die” and support us.

After School Policy
Ladies and Gentlemen, would you like to go to school with expensive tuition that treats you like a prisoner in jail? This new term, our school started to carry out the new after school policy .The initiation of the new after school policy was caused by a small number of incidents from few lower classmen and was an attempt to protect the students from any possible danger, to prevent students from wasting time, and to supervise them for healthier and better life as a student. Under the new policy, the students cannot stay after school without permission from teachers and parents and wander around the school. While something should be done about the education and protection of students, the new policy is causing students to feel absurd, unfair, and disdainful and is wasting student’s money and time. Also, the students are being treated like a prisoner in the jail due to the new, more rigorous restrictions. Students should be allowed to stay afterschool without restriction.
The new after school policy is wasting the student’s tuition. After SIS, KIS is the 2nd most expensive international school in Korea. SIS costs around 25.000.000$, and KIS costs around 23,500,000, which is equivalent to the cost for a car. However, we are treated worse than the schools that have a lower tuition than KIS: SFS and YISS. SFS costs around 18,425,000$ and YISS costs around 16,250,000$. The new policy is causing the students and their parents to feel as it they wasted their money to a school where the students are severely restricted from using school facilities and resources just like a prisoner in the jail.

It is nonsense how the school became like this. The school principals, teachers, and few members of the school staffs created the new after school policy. However, the reason they made this policy is ridiculous and absurd. Mr. Christenbury and some high school staffs said that the after school policy was created because of little incidents caused by a couple of people middle school students. For example, one of the middle school students got injured after school while playing around. It is quite reasonable that school made the new policy since the school is responsible for protecting the student in campus. However, motivating students to go home and forcing students to stay at one area until the school ends does not prevent student injury. Students can get injured any where in any time by accident. It is illogical that the school is comparing the high school students to the younger students who are less mature and responsible. Also, it is unreasonable that the school is ignoring high school students and treating lower classmen with more attention. Furthermore, it is nonsense how only a few people can influence the whole school.
Surprisingly, students are wasting more time than before. The school might have thought that this new policy will definitely save student’s time. However, the result is quiet the opposite. Before the school policy was made, the school was the best place to meet and work on group project. Nonetheless, now, students are wasting more time in searching for a place to do group project. returning all the way home. Although the school expected students to use their time wisely with this new policy, the students are wasting more time than before.
Even if the new after school policy is for the education and protection of students, clearly, the level of restriction is extreme and unnecessary. This extreme level of restriction should be reconsidered because it is wasting student’s tuition and time. KIS Students are not being treated as well as how they should be compared to their price paying. The primary reason for this new policy is ludicrous. Now, KIS is like the slave owner, and we are the slaves. If you value equality, freedom, and the rights of student, if you believe that you are being treated as inferior than lower grades, if you believe that many should not be punished because of the few, I urge you to contact Jin Kwon and be the member of the club “The after-school policy must die” and support us.
